Cycle Transport Service Scotland

At SLM Cycle Transport, we offer the facility to transport up to 7 cyclists and their bikes plus any luggage to wherever they need to be. Our goal is to provide you with a reliable bespoke transport service that will make your outing more comfortable and enjoyable.

We provide the service using a comfortable modern minibus and a purpose built trailer or bike carrier. We want to help and support you enjoy your cycling by providing a quality transport service that can be fully customised for your cycling group according to your requirements.

How it works

While the passengers travel in comfort in the minibus, the bikes will be securely attached to the cycle carrier or trailer. Depending upon the number of bikes, they will either be carried on our Atera-Strada tow bar carrier or our purpose built Burtech trailer. For carbon frame bikes the tow bar carrier allows us to carry the bikes by their wheels and seat posts to avoid gripping the frames – if holding the bike by its frame is unavoidable then we will use Thule Carbon Frame Protectors and additional protection to protect the bike while it is being transported. On the trailer, the bikes will be loaded by dropping their wheels into the trailer’s slots and loops before being secured in place using straps attached to the handlebar and the pedal – avoiding the need to grip the bike frame.

Please note that, in order to keep our costs competitive, we do not insure the bikes against damage while being transported and we would always recommend that your bike is insured properly either under your house insurance or under separate cycle insurance. We will take all reasonable care with your bike. When loading it on the trailer or cycle rack, we welcome and encourage you to check that your bike has been safely strapped on and, if necessary, is secured with a suitable lock. Our focus

We are able to transport road, hybrid and mountain bikes with wheels up to 29 inches. E-bikes can also be carried depending upon their set up and build but please advise us of your type of bike and size when you contact us for a quote. We can also transport up to 2 tandems or 1 tandem plus up to 4 bikes. For any other bikes such as fat bikes or bikes with extra wide tyres then please contact us to see if we can assist with your requirements.

Any luggage, back packs or panniers will be carried in the minibus and the trailer also has an equipment box for helmets and wet muddy gear.

For those organising a tour for small groups, we can also provide a full support service where, each day, we transfer your luggage to the next overnight stop, meet up with you for lunch or coffee stops and, if required, act as a ‘sweep up’ service in the event of any problems.

Our focus is to provide a flexible quality transport service for you and your bike. We know from experience that things can sometimes not go to plan on a trip and that you may be delayed by mechanical problems or flat tyres meaning you may not reach the agreed pick up point when you had expected. Therefore as part of our service we will do our best to accommodate or help resolve the problem by either waiting up to 1 hour or, if contacted and if possible, by driving out to collect you at a slightly different location.
